The U.S. Department of Energy has announced plans to build two new GPU-accelerated supercomputers: “Sierra” at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and "Summit" at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Expected to deliver three times greater performance than today’s most powerful system, these two new supercomputers are achieving record performance thanks to new technologies from IBM and NVIDIA, including the NVLink high-speed GPU interconnect.
