Space agencies are hard at work trying to figure out if life exists on other planets, but a number of people here on Earth have already made up their minds on the matter.
Here are 10 of the most commonly held theories about aliens.
Number 10.Alien ships around the International Space Station. Believers cite white moving objects around the space station as evidence that aliens are already here. Critics say those objects are reflections from sunlight but that has not slowed down the rumor mill.
Number 9. The Reptilian Elite. They’re part human, part lizard, and entirely powerful. BBC sports reporter turned New Age philosopher David Icke has devoted his life to revealing the major world events they’ve controlled and the humans they pretend to be. Henry Kissinger, Queen Elizabeth, and Bob Hope have all been identified as members of the reptilian ranks.
Number 8. The Ancient Aliens. There’s no point in sitting around waiting for beings from outer space to show up as, according to this theory, they’ve already been here. It posits that extraterrestrials arrived long ago, imparted their advanced wisdom on ancient peoples, and forever changed the course of history on Earth.
Number 7. Area 51. It turns out that everybody who believed the government was hiding aliens and cool space gizmos in a Nevada base called Area 51 was at least half right. The CIA not long ago admitted it exists, but fell short of sharing the full details of what’s inside.
Number 6. Jesus Christ, Alien Messenger. Within the government’s rumored top secret chronicle of all extraterrestrial activity since the dawn of man there’s a mention of Christ. He was reportedly engineered and sent by inhabitants of another planet. The purpose of the mission was to teach humans tolerance and love.
Number 5. Comet 67P. While the world was busy watching as a probe became the first craft to ever touch down on a comet, the real story was apparently 67P itself. It’s theorized that the comet is actually a space ship, and the true intention of the mission was to make contact with it.
Number 4. Crop Circles. Most are revealed as hoaxes, but there are a small number that are deemed free of human involvement and left unexplained. Aliens are the go-to suspects, but sexually active hedgehogs have also been suggested as a possible creator.
Number 3. They’re already among us. A former Canadian defense minister shared on Russian television that there are about 80 species of them walking around, and some of them are jerks. For the most part, though, they come in peace.
Number 2. Cattle Mutilations. Finding cattle dead and desecrated is not unusual in the US, and among the most common explanations are teenage pranks and alien experiments. It’s unclear why either party would specifically target cows.
Number 1. Humans were brought here by aliens. That’s apparently why we throw our backs out so often and get sunburned. We’re just not built for such a gravity-intense, sun-soaked place. According to one team of researchers, evidence of our other-world origins can be found in the specially coded DNA implanted by our alien maker.
