Number 10. A potbelly pig. Just before the Thanksgiving holiday, a pig in Texas fled from his home and went wandering around a neighborhood. Authorities were called to the scene. Though the little guy initially resisted capture, police got the jump on him when he stopped to nibble on a patch of grass.

Number 9. Llamas. The trio had been on an outing to an Airzona assisted-living community. When the time came for them to get in the truck and go home, all three made a break for it. The people present had little luck corralling the herd, so the sheriff department’s assistance was requested. The mission was ultimately successful, but took over an hour to complete.

Number 8. Suspicious Paraglider. A man on a motorized paraglider floated too close to a Los Angeles area prison and was pursued at low speed by police in helicopters. The suspect couldn’t hear the sirens over his craft’s motor, so getting his attention took a while. When questioned, the man denied nefarious intentions and said he simply went where the wind took him.

Number 7. Determined car thief. In an effort to avoid the squad cars closing in, a person driving a reportedly stolen van tried to make a tricky turn. The vehicle rolled over, but as soon as it was back upright, the driver kept going. Before long, the car’s automatic fuel shut-off safety mechanism kicked in, foiling the escape attempt.

Number 6. Emus. The animals were eventually contained, but the process was filled with challenges. Among them was that confining the creatures in trucks wasn’t an option, as they’d most likely just break free. The emus took advantage of the extra time, fully enjoying their time in the Austin-area subdivision.

Number 5. A Buffalo. Police in Texas went in hot pursuit of a bison they described as being particularly fast moving for its size. The buffalo was also quite agile, having jumped over two fences, one electrical and the other barbed wire, to escape its confines.

Number 4. Drug hurlers. In the midst of being chased by county sheriff personnel in Arizona, suspects in a speeding Trailblazer began throwing bales of marijuana onto the highway. Though bystanders snatched up some of the drugs, authorities did manage to seize quite a bit of the illicit substance after catching up with the car.

Number 3. Zebras. Two of the striped animals snuck off when the circus they were travelling with stopped in West Philadelphia. One of them managed to make it at least a couple of miles out before police were able to grab it.

Number 2. Flying chainsaws. While in pursuit of individuals suspected of robbing a store, a Georgia officer got some rather unexpected objects tossed at his car. Hurled from the alleged perpetrators’ SUV were three chainsaws and an edge trimmer.

Number 1. Horses. Given how fast the animals can run, that they were hooked up to a carriage at the time is a bit of a blessing. Not a complete one, though, as once they took off down a street in Poland they nearly into a number of vehicles. Thankfully, they cut their joyride short when they got to a nearby park and decided to take a grass-eating break.
