Having just been through a complete redesign in 2018, we expect the bulk of the 2020 Toyota Camry lineup to carry over unchanged. There will, however, be one big change with the all-new, performance-tuned 2020 Toyota Camry TRD.

Visually, we expect the 2020 Toyota Camry’s base styling to remain the same. This shouldn’t cause any uproars, given the model just went through a complete redesign that’s received plenty of compliments. The biggest visual change to to the lineup will be the 2020 Camry TRD, which will gain new 19-inch matte-black wheels that are 3.1 pounds lighter each; an aero package with a front splitter, side skirts, trunk lid spoiler and rear diffuser; red-painted brake calipers and TRD badges; a gloss-black grille with sport mesh; black badges; and polished TRD exhaust tips.

Inside, we expect no big changes to the 2020 Toyota Camry lineup, but the TRD model will again add sportier touches. The Camry TRD’s upgrades will include black leatherette sport seats with fabric inserts; red accents, contrast stitching, TRD-embroidered headrests and seat belts; a TRD-logo shift knob; TRD floor mats and trunk mat; and a TRD splash screen on the multi-information display.

With no structural changes in the works, we expect the powertrain department to remain the same. If this proves true, the 2020 Toyota Camry will come standard with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 203 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. Optionally, buyers can add a 3.5-liter V6 engine that cranks out 301 hp and 267 pound-feet of torque. These gasoline-only engines will pair with an eight-speed automatic transmission that will ship power to the front wheels.
Buyers looking for more thrift will still have the Camry Hybrid to satisfy that itch. We expect it to pair a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor to produce 208 hp. While this will be nowhere near as fun to drive as the V6-powered model, it will delivers outstanding fuel economy that rings in at 51 miles per gallon city, 53 highway, and 52 combined in the current Camry Hybrid.

The 2020 Camry TRD will feature the 301-hp 3.5-liter V6 engine, but it will gain a cat-back exhaust system for a meaner growl and tons of handling upgrades. The latter includes new sway bars and coil springs for 44 percent more front stiffness up front and 67 percent more rear stiffness, a 0.6-inch lower ride height, 0.5-inch wider wheels with stickier rubber, and 0.9-inch larger front brake rotors gripped by dual-piston calipers.

The 2019 Toyota Camry is one of the safest sedans on the road today thanks to its standard Toyota Safety Sense P, which includes automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and adaptive cruise control. We expect the 2020 Toyota Camry to keep all these features and its IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating.
Fleet order guides show the 2020 Camry will begin production in August 2019 with an on-sale date sometime in October.

Official pricing is not available yet, but outside of the TRD model, we expect no big changes from its current MSRP range of $24,765 to $35,520 (destination fees included). We expect the 2020 Camry TRD to check in a few thousand dollars higher than the range-topping XSE V6 model.
