The Google Pixel C is a funny little device. Running stock Android Marshmallow, but with a Chromebook’s branding and design, with an expensive accessory a must-buy if you want to get the most of it, it won’t be on everyone’s shopping list this holiday season. And that's before you consider all the rough reviews it's gotten from other publications already.
Given that less-than-stellar debut, you might expect our first impression of the Google Pixel C to be equally underwhelming. But 24 hours in, we’re actually quite captivated by this little contradiction of a machine. With its comfortable keys, beautiful display and stunning industrial design, it's a tablet right out of the future, masquerading as a high-end notebook – and not doing a bad job of it, at least from a hardware perspective. With nice little touches like a knock-to-activate battery meter and the absolute absence of any branding whatsoever on its sleek aluminum casing, the Pixel C is a beauty to behold.
Of course, it's still an Android tablet in 2015, so things are about to get a lot more critical once we get out of the honeymoon phase. Let’s enjoy it while it lasts. Join us for our first-impressions look at the Google Pixel C, and stay tuned for Pocketnow's full review coming soon!
Star Trek App shown in closing shot is "12 LCARS," available on the Play Store:
