Be like SMART BANANA: https://goo.gl/JTfP6L
Sometimes ships and planes and boats go missing, never to turn up again. Air and sea voyages can be dangerous, even today, Mr. Banana.
If we’re lucky, we find the boats and planes and maybe even the people. If we’re unlucky, we never find anything and their disappearance remains a mystery.
And sometimes we find something that just makes the disappearance even stranger.
Like in the case of the MV Joyita.
The MV Joyita was a merchant vessel. On October 3rd, 1955, it set sail from Apia, the capital city of Samoa. It was going to take 25 people (16 crew and 9 passengers (including a doctor, a government official, and two children,)) medical supplies, timber, and empty oil barrels on a 270 mile trip across the Pacific Ocean to dock at the Tokelau Islands, a trip that should have taken 2 days.
Okay. It sounds easy, right?
