5 R-Rated Superhero Movies

With production currently underway in Vancouver on the comic book adaptation of Deadpool, the producers have excitedly claimed that their merc with a mouth will be the first hard R superhero. For those unfamiliar with the term hard R - it basically means that no attempts will be made by the studio or the filmmakers to soften or tame the onscreen violence in an attempt to make a more marketable PG-13 movie. Instead, they’ll be appealing to hardcore fans of the character by letting the bullets and fists fly in all manner of gloriously violent action scenes, thus earning itself an R rating.

Which is all well and good for the fans, but just to clarify, Deadpool is definitely not going to be the first hard R superhero. Not even close. And to prove it, we’ve got 5 other superheroes who left their mark on film by pulling no punches in R-rated movies.
