Cats, with their hilarious antics and endearing expressions, have become the unofficial mascots of the Internet. They have not, however, let fame get in the way of being truly amazing companions.

Number 5. They don’t need to be taken out for walks. Even in whiteout blizzard conditions, dogs are quite insistent that they be taken outdoors. Cats, on the other hand, are content to just look out the window. They can also make use of their litter boxes without a human chaperone. 
Number 4. Cats are ninja-level bug killers. No corner is a safe hiding place for spiders, flies, and other pests as long as a feline is prowling the grounds. The hunt is a game for the felines, and one they typically win. 
Number 3. Cats are quieter. Sure, they can have meowing fits when something doesn’t please them or demands  immediate attention from the nearest person, but  most often, the volume level is significantly lower than a dog’s. 
Number 2. They’re less likely to harass your guests. Cats are more apt to size a new person up while hiding underneath something situated fairly far away. That greatly diminishes the risk of drool-soaked pants, nail-induced fabric runs, or awkward sniffing. 
Number 1. Cats are more cost-effective. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, or ASPCA, estimates that after the first year, annual feline care and maintenance is roughly $670. Large dogs rack up tabs closer to the $900 mark.
