Wireless earbuds are sort of the holy grail of portable audio, but until now it's been challenging to do them right. Make them too bulky and they'll look awkward and unappealing. Make them small enough and battery life and sound quality become an issue. But the creators of a Kickstarter campaign for a new product called Earin think they have finally solved the problem once and for all.

Earin are the smallest wireless earbuds ever made, and they're discrete enough that you won't feel weird about wearing them. Using a "balanced armature" speaker they were able to reduce the size and power requirements of the earbuds dramatically, letting them get away with a very tiny battery while still delivering 3 hours of continuous playback.

On paper they've got a winner - but the biggest question on all of our minds are how they actually perform in the real world. If you want to be one of the first to find out, you can do so to the tune of ~$200 by pledging to the Kickstarter campaign.
