Before we blame Canon, let's take a quick look at the options. One possibility was to put a firmware update to the current camera and call it a day. But the camera actually runs warm and you would need some hardware updates to manage the heat much better. Then you have the 30 minute record limit. With the original R6 already running warm, removing the record limit would just complicate the matter.

The R6 and R5 are not a matched pair in terms of operation layout. With the R62 this gets solved. The R3, R5, R6II and R7 all have the same basic functional mindset. The R10 does not, the R6 original and R10 have a similar mindset when it comes to operating the cameras.

I think Canon took the harder choice but I think it was the correct choice and better for everyone - except those that already own the original R6. That would be me!!! lol.
