Jonathan Majors, convicted on criminal charges, signals major shifts for himself and the MCU. Following verdicts in the Jonathan Majors trial seeing Johnathan Majors guilty on counts of assault and harassment, Marvel has dropped the actor. IGN's Kim Horcher breaks down why Marvel Studios should also part ways with Kang the character, as his launch as the next big-bad of the MCU hasn't really gone off without a hitch, plus Marvel has other big name villains like Galactus, Doctor Doom and Magneto just waiting to get into the action.

Disney/Marvel Studios didn’t wait long after the Jonathan Majors trial update to make their announcement they were dropping him. Jonathan Majors, found guilty in a New York courtroom, may signal the end of an acting career. Jonathan Majors, fired by his reputation, is now Jonathan Majors, fired from Marvel. What is Jonathan Majors’ future? Marvel may have planned for what to do about Jonathan Majors, evidence may show, well before the Jonathan Majors court drama even played out.
With Jonathan Majors fired, Marvel is at a crossroads. What more could the news of Jonathan Majors Fired as Kang mean? Who could replace Jonathan Majors? Fired Disney /Marvel villain aside, the company has had a real issue with the character. Could Jonathan Majors Fired from Disney mean more? Is there anything left for the character after the departure of Jonathan Majors? Fired from Kang isn’t enough because there could always be a Kang recast. It’s actually time to leave the character behind too.

Kang the Conqueror in the MCU may not be the exact Kang the Conqueror Loki, comic fans, or even Marvel studios was expecting. What went so wrong with Kang? He Who Remains had an impressive first appearance in the MCU in Marvel’s Loki, but he isn’t making quite the impact we might have expected based on the Marvel Comics version. Judging from the first season finale of Loki, Kang the Conqueror posed a multiversal threat as fans wondered “Who is Kang the Conqueror?” and could he be the end for our anti-hero in Loki season 2.

Decidedly, no. The Marvel Cinematic Universe seemed to have big plans for the new encompassing villain at Marvel Studios, with designs for a Kang Dynasty movie. But one thing tipped fate in the other direction: Quantumania. Jonathan Majors aside, his character as the erstwhile Avenger villain just don’t seem to work as the Kang the Conqueror Marvel Comics promised us just doesn’t match the version of Kang the Conqueror Jonathan Majors actually plays on screen.
Should this be the end of the Kang the Conqueror Marvel experiment? Is there still room for Kang the Conqueror, MCU-wide? We’re breaking down the case against Kang in here at IGN. Don’t forget to follow our other IGN MCU coverage, MCU analysis, and more. Let us know your thoughts on the viability of Kang the Conqueror!
