Empowering Women in the Garment Industry

Bangladesh is the second largest garment manufacturer in the world. Over the next several years, it’s estimated that over 50 million people will lose their jobs to automation in manufacturing. Microsoft and Shimmy Technologies are empowering female garment factory workers like Ruma Akter with an upskilling app. The Azure based training teaches the digital skills needed to stay relevant and earn safer, higher paying jobs within the manufacturing industry. The founder of Shimmy, Sarah Krasley, believes in driving change and that the future of work can be efficient and fair.
