In today's Fix of entertainment news:
The Borderlands movie is out in theatres, and it's bombing pretty hard. And not just with critics—audiences aren't showing up, either, as the movie has made a paltry $16 million worldwide in its opening weekend. By comparison, Deadpool and Wolverine made $96 million just in the U.S. on its opening day alone. But Borderlands game developer Gearbox seems to be taking it in stride. CEO Randy Pitchford is possibly teasing a fourth game, and thanked fans for sticking with the game franchise. And speaking of Deadpool and Wolverine, the movie is not only the MCU's sole flick of the year, it's their biggest since 2021, crossing $1 billion worldwide this past weekend. Finally, in related MCU news, we all know Robert Downey, Jr. is back in the Marvel fold as Doctor Doom, but Disney also announced his return to the Tony Stark role...but not in a film. RDJ will be reprising the iconic genius—billionaire—playboy—philanthropist in a new Disneyland ride called Stark Flight Lab.
