Edmunds Editor-in-Chief Alistair Weaver explains the Hyundai Elevate, a far-out concept that holds great potential and a 2019 Edmunds CES Tech Driven Award winner. The Elevate is what Hyundai calls the first "Ultimate Mobility Vehicle.” Powered by articulating robotic legs and capable of “omnidirectional mobility,” it would be able to traverse difficult terrain and could prove critically useful in disaster relief work. Though the Elevate’s not destined for production, the robotics technology behind it holds promise for practical applications in vehicles.
