I think that one of my biggest problems with gaming monitors is that they're mostly one-trick ponies. They're really good at blending with a game to drive its performance, but which also means that their specs are focused only on that. Color accuracy is not important, refresh rate matters more than resolution, since you need crazy expensive graphics cards to drive the former. I mean hey if all you do is gaming for a living, then you're fine, but I'm the kind of guy that prefers versatility.
This is the 27-inch LG Ultra Gear 4K Gaming Monitor, one of the companies highest end offerings in the category, and what I'm gonna call complete overkill for gaming, but because that's not all it can do. This is actually one of my favorite professional monitors, so much so that it's the one I have in my small little home office.
