Introducing 2022 Porsche Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo https://youtu.be/m1v1jM72J4U
Porsche will offer the Taycan Cross Turismo in four guises, 4S, Turbo, and Turbo S-which all mirror their Taycan sedan counterparts—but there's a new base model, the Taycan 4. As the name implies, it's an all-wheel-drive entry-level version of the lifted wagon. Mechanically, the Taycan 4 Cross Turismo is a Taycan 4S software limited to 375 hp and 368 lb-ft of torque, with power rising to 469 hp when using launch control. Those power figures are identical to the base, rear-drive Taycan sedan, though torque is slightly higher.
Beyond the long-roof bodywork, the main difference between the Taycan sedan and the Cross Turismo is ride height. In its standard configuration, the Taycan Cross Turismo sits 20mm higher than a Taycan sedan equipped with air-springs. A gravel mode raises things an extra 30mm, while a lift mode raises the Taycan by 30mm over that, though only at speeds of up to 19 mph. With either Range or Sport + drive modes selected, the Cross Turismo's ride height will drop by 22mm, so it'll sit around the same height as a Taycan sedan in normal mode.
Porsche will offer an Off-Road design package for the Taycan Cross Turismo, which in addition to body cladding and unique wheels sees the wagon riding 10mm higher in all but Gravel and Lift modes. Gravel mode is particularly interesting, as it relaxes stability control and uses what Porsche calls a "virtual center differential lock" where the all-wheel-drive system maintains similar speeds between each axle, like you would if you actually had a center differential. So, it's not just for driving sedately on gravel.
Starting price for the Taycan 4 Cross Turismo is $92,250, which is exactly $11,000 more than the base rear-drive sedan. Expect Cross Turismo models to arrive at dealers this summer.
