The electric family car segment is undoubtedly the hottest in the industry right now and while the Kia EV3 isn't necessarily the Korean brand's first EV model to date, it's arguably its most important.

A rival to the Volvo EX30, Volkswagen ID.3, Cupra Born and Renault Megane E-Tech, the EV3 looks just as good on paper as it does in person. Buyers have a choice of two battery sizes, with top-spec models rated for as much as 375 miles on a single charge, giving it a huge leg up over its competitors.

On the inside, it’s the same cyberpunk-esque styling we’re now getting used to from other electric Kia models. Interior quality is a mixed bag, but on the whole, buyers will likely be impressed by the EV3’s long list of standard equipment.

Out on the road the EV3 is surprisingly quiet given its boxy shape – there’s very little wind noise – and while the electric motor does provide sufficient punch, cushy suspension is a clear sign that this is a car designed to be driven at a relaxed pace.
