Today Leica announced the brand new M EV1 which is the first Leica M camera to feature an Electronic Viewfinder instead of the traditional rangefinder application.

The newest addition to the Leica M portfolio features a 5.76 Megapixel, 0.5 inch EVF with a 0.76x magnification. The styling is very similar to what is found on the Q3 and the Q3 43.

The camera is largely based on the Leica M11, but without the ISO dial on the top. The frameline selection lever is now a two way switch that will enable focus peaking or digital crop zoom.

Leica insist that this does not replace the rangefinder. It's a new tool to use in the M ecosystem.
