Earlier this week, Google announced that it has acquired Boston Dynamics, one of the world's leading robotics and engineering companies. This is Google's eight robotics acquisition over the past six months.



Boston Dynamics is best known for some of the most incredible (or terrifying, depending on your perspective) robots out there.

Petman
Atlas
Cheetah
Big Dog

They've also build human simulation and artificial intelligence tools, like the DI-Guy software suite.




However, just prior to the acquisition DI-Guy split to join another engineering company, VT Mak. Google has its own Artificial Intelligence initiatives, like this partnership with NASA.
