More than just a Persona or Shin Megami Tensei clone, Metaphor: ReFantazio does a lot things differently than its predecessors. Here’s a guide to 17 things we wish we knew sooner about Atlus’s newest RPG. We made this as spoiler free as possible, but to show the full breadth of what Metaphor has to offer, we had to show some later game party members that have already been featured in promotional material. We just wanted to give you a heads up!
Metaphor is an RPG that combines turn-based battles, social sim elements, and a highly political story in a fantasy setting. Characters like Hulkenburg, Strohl, Gallica, and others join you on your journey to be the next king. You fight using Archetypes, which are basically classes– You have the standard like Warrior, Make, and Brawler, but also more subversive ones like Faker, which focuses on debuffing your enemy, and Merchant, which combines powerful passive abilities with a literal weaponization of currency.
This guide will go over things like how best to spend your early days, how to make money fast, and some important skills you want to make use of.
