Michael Witwer visited Google’s office in Kirkland, WA to discuss his book “Empire of Imagination: Gary Gygax and the Birth of Dungeons & Dragons”.
Dungeons & Dragons has brought people together, forging lifelong bonds in the strangest of places, since its publication in 1974. It’s fitting that an author of a game that formed such a personal connection should get a personal autobiography focused on personal stories.
Michael’s book explores the life of Gary Gygax, one of the creators of Dungeons & Dragons, in a narrative style based on interviews with many of Gygax’s family and associates. It’s a study of a man who forged a new imaginative space that’s been inhabited by generations of gamers since.
Michael is also a proposal director and actor in addition to being an author.
