Microsoft AI + Forus Health: Working to help eradicate preventable blindness

80% of blindness is preventable if treated in time, according to the World Health Organization. But in India, where there is one ophthalmologist for every 70,000 people, it is impossible for a doctor to screen every patient. That’s why the team at Forus Health created a portable eye screening device that uses Microsoft AI to help bring eye care to the people. In less than a minute, AI can identify whether a person is at risk of vision loss, so they can seek treatment from an ophthalmologist.
