They say 1G is the equivalent of a fully-grown man sitting on your stomach. Aerobatic pilots must endure 'Gz' on a regular basis during high-speed manoeuvres like hard turns, twists and loop the loops. The average person can withstand around 4 or 5G before 'blacking out' -- when all the blood drains from your optical nerves connected to your eyes. Nicolas Ivanoff, however, can take up to 10G and is, what the dictionary would describe as, a complete and utter nutter*. And he does this for up to 6 hours a day. That's because he's a professional aerobatic pilot and Red Bull Air Racer, for Team Hamilton Watches, and has been flying what are essentially stunt planes for 20 years. We caught up with this crazy Frenchman to find out what life is like when this extreme sport becomes your full-time career. This is My Life As An Aerobatic Pilot.
