Volkswagen has announced its first-ever plug-in hybrid R model, the 2021 Touareg R. It packs an impressive 455 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque thanks to a turbocharged V-6 combined with an electric motor, and it looks sharp.

VW has combined a 3.0-liter turbocharged V-6 making 335 horsepower to a 134-horsepower electric motor. There's a 14.1 kWh lithium-ion battery pack mounted in the trunk area, allowing the Touareg R to travel at speeds up to 87 mph using purely electric power.
