With the latest OnePlus 5 update (OxygenOS 4.5.8), the company brings the missing 4K electronic image stabilization (EIS) that makes 4K videos much more enjoyable to watch.
It took OnePlus two months to bring this update, but now that it's here, it makes a big difference. And it was a much needed feature: after all, previous OnePlus phones like the 3 and the 3T supported optical image stabilization (OIS), but the OnePlus 5 lacks OIS, so its 4K videos turned out very shaky and barely usable if you shoot while moving.
Interestingly, EIS that comes with the update does a great job: it stabilizes for hand tremors perfectly and does well to stabilize footage when you are walking. There is a very slight jitter still noticeable when you walk around, but if you adopt every videographer's favorite "ninja walk" with slightly bent knees and a more relaxed pace, you can get some truly great looking footage.
