Katie Cappiello (@Katie_Cappiello) & Meg McInerney (@MegMcInerney) of The Arts Effect (@TheArtsEffect) have spent three years engaging young people across the country in conversation about their experiences with slut shaming and sexual assault. The original play SLUT (written by Cappiello and directed by Cappiello & McInerney) was developed in collaboration with their team of high school students and has since toured cities nationwide including Los Angeles and Fargo. The play inspired the StopSlut movement and now the publication of SLUT: A Play and Guidebook for Combating Sexism and Sexual Violence (FEB 2015 by The Feminist Press).
This talk is moderated by award-winning actor Emily Mortimer and features: a scene from SLUT performed by Winnifred Bonjean-Alpart and Eliza Price and readings by teen contributors to this top-selling book. SLUT will be traveling to BOSTON and DC in May 2015, and PALO ALTO in Fall 2015.
