Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international agency established in 1971 that is dedicated to providing health care throughout the world. Its largely volunteer staff of medical and logistics personnel work in approximately 70 countries. It won the 1999 Nobel Peace Prize for its continuing effort in areas of crisis.
Sophie Delaunay is executive director of Doctors Without Borders/MSF in the United States. She first became involved with the organization in 1993 in administrative and finance roles, then worked extensively in program management both in the field and at headquarters. She has worked on MSF projects in Thailand, Rwanda, China, and Korea, as well as in the French and U.S. offices. She also conducted in-depth evaluations of MSF programs in Liberia, Darfur, Central African Republic, and China.
