Shy Averett can’t think of a single job that doesn’t require computer skills. As the Community Development Specialist at Greater Detroit’s Microsoft Store, she’s intent on preparing every person she encounters to take on that challenge. That’s why her team partnered with local nonprofit The Empowerment Plan to host a 10-week technology workshop where employees, previously homeless single parents, learn the tech skills necessary to pursue their dreams.
