The 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt: Celebrating Steve McQueen's Iconic Ride | Edmunds

In celebration of the iconic Steve McQueen movie Bullitt, Ford has introduced an all-new 2019 Mustang Bullitt. Edmunds Senior Writer Mark Takahashi snuck out of the office to drive it for himself in San Francisco, where the movie was filmed 50 years ago. The big question he set out to answer was, "Does this Mustang deserve the Bullitt badge?"

Q: Wait, isn't this just a green Mustang GT?
A: Yes and no. The 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt gets some styling tweaks: that Highland Green paint, a unique exhaust, a cue-ball shift knob, an intake manifold from the GT350, and 20 more horsepower than the GT. That comes to 480 hp.

Q: How is that not just a Mustang GT?
A: The combination of everything makes the 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt just a little bit more special than a similarly equipped GT. You don't even have to be a fan of Steve McQueen to get the giggles behind the wheel.

Q: How much does the 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt cost?
A: Prices start at $47,590. A similarly equipped Mustang GT would cost about $11,000 less.

Q: Did you get to drive the original 1968 Fastback from the movie?
A: LOL! No. It was pretty much unrestored and about as cool as you can imagine.
