Honda’s Civic has always had something of a split personality. There has been a string of rather dull, worthy, but popular mainstream models that have never really competed brilliantly against the best Europe has had to offer. And then there are the Type R models, every one of which has been guaranteed to put a smile on your face and has often had the beating of rivals. However, Honda has obviously been doing something right with the standard Civic – it celebrates its 50th birthday in 2022, when this brand new eleventh-generation model arrives in the UK. And this time, it's hybrid-only, with a cleaner design, a slick interior and a driving experience to compete with the BMW 1 Series, according to the brand.
