CD Projekt Red has offered some insight as to why it has decided to use Unreal Engine 5 for its upcoming new Witcher saga game, rather than its in-house REDengine 4. CD Projekt Red's Chief Technology Officer, Paweł Zawodny, explained it had to do with Unreal Engine's support for open-world games, which is a genre of game that CDPR is very familiar with by now.
