Invented by Nobel Laureate Eric Betzig, lattice lightsheet microscopy is a high resolution fluorescent microscopy technique that allows for video to be captured of living cells over longer periods of time, without harming them.

The lightsheet microscopy streams 3TB of data an hour and takes days to process and visualize. NVIDIA Clara Holoscan has made it possible to process and visualize the streaming microscopy data in real time helping researchers study biology in motion.

Here we highlight work at the Advanced Bioimaging Center at UC Berkeley where researchers are using Clara Holoscan running NVIDIA Index and AI with lightsheet microscopy to automatically detect rare biological events in real time.
