The One More Pile project has been in progress in northern Sweden for two years now. The project's aim is to find ways to rationalise timber haulage. A 30 metre long Volvo rig with a payload of 66 tonnes plays a central role in the project. If this type of rig, Europe's longest haulage rig on scheduled runs, were to become standard, fuel consumption from timber haulage would be reduced by an impressive 20 percent, according to a fresh report.
