"The Corolla has carried the Toyota’s heritage for over 50 years. The 1st generation Corolla began production in Japan from 1966. It set a fire on the motorization in Japan, becoming the top-selling vehicle within three years, and quickly spread to all over the world with the volume exceeding 47 million units by now. It has been calculated that one Corolla is sold about every 15 seconds in worldwide market of over 150 countries, as the best-selling car for Toyota globally," said Michinobu Sugata, president of Toyota Motor Thailand.

"In Thailand, the first Corolla was launched in 1966 as well. For over the half century, Corolla has been able to maintain its popularity as Thai’s most trusted passenger car with the accumulated sales of over 800,000 units."
Toyota calls the exterior design concept “Shooting Robust” which stands out with sharp, sleek and solid sweeping lines while the interior has a “Clean & Wide” concept that offers spaciousness.

The new Altis features a MacPherson Strut front suspension and a double wishbone rear.

It is underpinned by the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) which brings enhanced body rigidity, and a lower center of gravity for better balance, stability and handling.
The hybrid variants are fitted with the 2ZR-FXE 1.8 L engine with electric motor and E-CVT transmission, as well as the 4th-generation Hybrid Synergy Drive which can achieve fuel efficiency of more than 23km per litre.

The new Altis is also the first full-hybrid EV (electric vehicle) in its class in Thailand, and can run in electric-only mode for short distances.

The three non-hybrid Altis variants use 7-speed SUPER CVT-i gearboxes with Sequential Shift.

Meanwhile, the 1.8-litre GR-Sport variant was developed under the “Gazoo Racing Sport” concept and comes with special aero packages.
Depending on variant, features on the 2020 Corolla Altis can include automatic LED Projector Headlights, LED Daytime Running Lights, LED Rear Lamps, 17-Inch Alloy Wheels, Smart Entry - automatic door unlock system, Head Up Display, Push Start ignition, Touchscreen 8-inch support Apple CarPlay with Navigator applicable with T-CONNECT, Automatic Air Conditioning System, Nanoe Air Purifying System, auto dimming rear view mirror, Auto Brake Hold and Electric Parking Brake, Rear air vents and Rear sunshade.

Meanwhile, safety features dependng on variant on the 2020 Corolla Altis include Back Guide Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Hill-start Assist Control, Blind Spot Monitor, Back Sonar, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Traction Control System, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist, and 7 SRS Airbags.

The flagship variant also gets Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keeping Assist.
