When Porsche revealed its new all-electric Taycan sedan in September, the only variants presented to the public were the top-of-the-range Turbo and Turbo S models. Both offer supreme performance, but come with a hefty price tag—$153,510 to start. If you'd rather not spend that much cash, the company's just unveiled the more affordable Taycan 4S.

Similar to other cars in Porsche's lineup, 4S slots below the top-tier Turbo models in terms of price and performance. It's available with two battery sizes, a 79.2 kWh unit as standard, and an optional 93.4 kWh unit. Range for either variant has yet to be revealed, but the performance numbers are impressive: No matter which battery you choose, the Taycan 4S will be able to sprint to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds, and hit a top speed of 155 mph.

Like the Turbo models, the Taycan 4S gets all-wheel drive standard thanks to two permanently excited synchronous motors, one for each axle. There's also a two-speed transmission on the rear axle, and standard Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) with air suspension.
The red-painted cast iron brakes are six-piston units up front and four-piston in the rear, with rotors measuring 14.2 inches and 14.1 inches respectively. They can produce a maximum regenerative force of up to 0.39 g, with up to 265 kWh of recuperation. They're shrouded by 19-inch aero wheels as standard.

Inside, partial leather and eight-way adjustable seats come included, as well as things like keyless entry and ambient interior lighting. Porsche also mentions that it now has a totally leather-free interior trim option available, which utilizes recycled materials.

The 2020 Taycan 4S will arrive in dealerships starting Spring 2020, with a starting MSRP of $103,800 for the base 79.2 kWh battery, and $110,380 for the optional 93.4 kWh battery, excluding a $1350 destination fee. That starting price is about $50,000 cheaper than the least expensive Turbo model, which should give you an idea of where it slots into the Taycan range.
