The Land Rover Defender, a rugged 4-wheel-drive (4WD) utility vehicle, has origins that date back to 1948. The all-new Land Rover Defender maintains that link to the past while being totally modernized to meet 21st-century needs.
The 2021 Land Rover Defender tackles this task with a rugged unit-body chassis, steel subframes, and independent front and rear suspension. The 2-door Defender 90s, which arrive in January, get a coil-spring suspension, while the 4-door Defender 110s get air suspension. A thoroughly modern electronics suite improves capability both on and off the road.
As an X-Dynamic S model, the 2021 Defender 90 is powered by a mild hybrid powertrain featuring a turbocharged and electric supercharged 3.0-liter inline-6 that puts out 395 horsepower.
The rest of the Defender 110 lineup has the 395-hp mild-hybrid powertrain featuring the turbocharged and electric supercharged inline-6 engine with electric assist.
