#5 Living on other planets
Yes, we know, the press is talking about life on Mars or other exoplanets all the time lately. But we can’t deny the fact, that it’s happening and we’re ready to pack our bags. First of all, we must acknowledge the fact, that today there are 3 companies trying to get the space mill up-and-running: NASA, Space X, and Mars One. They aim to establish a permanent human settlement on Mars. It sounds like an unbelievable story from your favorite book, but it’s happening in real life. There are many things that make people think of moving to other planets: lust for more knowledge about space and distant universes, search for answers about the history of the human race, an attempt to find a new home for people, and a mere space exploration.
NASA has set a goal of sending humans to the Red Planet in the 2030s. SpaceX CEO Elon Musk says we’ll have a million people living on Mars by the 2060s. That journey is already well underway. Mars is the planet that is most like the Earth, it has some resources needed to support life. It wouldn’t be just as simple as they show you in “The Martian”, it would be twice as hard especially for those to land there first. SpaceX proposed to develop a Mars initial transportation infrastructure including fully reusable launch vehicles, human-rated spacecraft, on-orbit propellant tankers, rapid-turnaround launch/landing mounts, and local production of rocket fuel. Some people are very skeptical about life on Mars claiming that if we can’t live in peace on our own planet, we destroy animals’ natural habitat, and waste natural resources, how would we live somewhere else?
