Audi is celebrating 25 years of a performance icon with a new special edition of the RS 4 Avant, a desirable wagon not offered in the United States. Limited to just 250 examples, the edition 25 years gets more power than the standard model and aesthetic enhancements that hark back to the original RS4 Avant, one of the most revered Audi RS models.
The 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 now produces 464 hp (an increase of 20 hp) and a respectable 443 lb-ft of torque. The power bump has improved performance, with 0-62 mph taking just 3.7 seconds. The top speed is rated at 186 mph, giving this compact wagon the same potential as supercars of years gone by. Launch control is also equipped as standard.
Unique to the RS 4 Avant edition 25 years, Audi has revisited the front axle's negative camber, increasing it by two degrees. Stiffer control arms were also fitted, with the improvements resulting in greater cornering abilities, particularly at higher speeds. An upgraded Torsen differential and a fixed subframe on the rear axle improve stability and provide improved feedback to the driver. Lastly, the transmission control unit has been retuned for more rapid shifting times, and the turbocharged V6 sings through an RS sport exhaust system.
