My name’s Chris Winter and in this video, I’m going to share some of the best New Years' resolution ideas for 2023.
Now 2023 is just around the corner and with the beginning of a new year, it’s always a great idea to check in, reflect on our lives and plan out some new goals.
So let’s get started with the first best New Years' resolution idea, which is to help others.
Help others by volunteering
It’s been tough these last few years for everyone with the Covid-19 pandemic and its ongoing consequences. So, make it your New Year's resolution to help others.
Scheduling weekly or monthly times to volunteer is a great way to do this. If you google volunteering in your hometown, I bet many ideas will pop up on places where you can offer your time and services. You could volunteer a day or two at your local SPCA, or spend a few hours once a week chatting with the elderly in a nearby rest home. Maybe you could be a Scouts or Girl Guides leader? Is there a soup kitchen you can help out at, one evening a week? There are SO many small and simple ways you can make a huge difference in somebody else's life.
Make helping others one of your top priorities for 2023 as a New Years' Resolution.
Learn a new language
Expand your horizons in 2023 and learn a new language. Learning a new language has many benefits, including improving your career prospects, strengthening your memory and other cognitive abilities and making you a better multitasker. You gain greater respect and appreciation for different cultures and become a better communicator!
There are heaps of free resources out there to help with this resolution such as Youtube tutorials and apps like Duolingo. You could also sign up for night classes or join a language meet-up group.
Maybe you could give yourself a reward if you keep up this resolution and plan to travel to a country where your new language is spoken the following year.
Join a social sport team
Why not have a New Years’ resolution that encourages you to meet new people AND get fit? So, join a social sports team! Social sports are low commitment but they’re a great opportunity to move your body and make new friends. All you have to do is go to weekly practices and then go to the sports tournament!
4. Cook a new dish every week
If you own a bookshelf, it’s pretty likely that you’ll own a fair few cookbooks that mostly just collect dust on those shelves. In 2023, make it a New Years’ resolution to cook a new dish at least once a week.
Get those cookbooks down from the shelf or google new recipes as hundreds of thousands of ideas are online.
Many people make New Year’s resolutions that focus on cutting out foods from their diet, but why not add new foods? How fun will it be to go to the supermarket, filling your trolley or basket with an array of new and exotic ingredients to cook up?
You can even host a dinner party for friends and family so they can try a new dish as well!
