Building battery efficient apps (Big Android BBQ 2015)

Our phones are so powerful, that sometimes we forget they are resource limited devices and rely on limited bandwidth, connectivity and battery. Writing an app that provides delightful user experience on one hand and doesn't drain the user's battery on the other is hard. In this talk Ran will describe how cellular networks work behind the scene and what it means for us as developers. Come and learn what are the main pitfalls when accessing network from your app and how to avoid them. We will cover techniques like pre-fetch, batching and content segmentation as well as socket management and persistent connection . This is talk is not for the faint of heart, brace yourself - there will be code. and lots of it.
