Meet the all-new Audi A5 & S5!

Now there’s one big change we need to address right off the bat - the new A5 & S5 are available as either a saloon or estate, and they’ve replaced the A4 & S4!

Why the change? Well as Audi moves towards releasing more electric-powered cars, it’s changed its naming conventions. All odd-numbered cars (i.e. A3, A5 & A7) will come with internal combustion engines, while all even-numbered cars (i.e. A4 & A6) will only be available as all-electric cars.

So the big news here is that the new A5 & S5 will both be available as ICE cars! The range kicks off with a 2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine, which will be able to produce 150hp or 204hp, depending on which configuration you go for. There will also be a 2-litre diesel available that comes with mild hybrid tech included, which can also produce 204hp.

If you’re looking for a bit more power, you’ll want to choose the new S5! It’s powered by a 3-litre V6 turbo as well as having mild hybrid tech included, and this will be able to produce 367hp while also propelling you to 62mph in just 4.5 seconds.

In terms of the design, both the saloon & estate look great. Up front, Audi has reduced the size of the grille and enhanced the size of the air intakes both below and to the side of it, and there’s a set of slim & smart OLED headlights on either side. Along the side you’ll find smart electronic door handles, and around the back there’s a new protruding light bar design as well as a set of real quad tailpipes!

Step inside and the design is brilliant. There’s a huge curved digital dial and infotainment screen, and there’s even a second screen just for the passenger! It looks like most of the functionality is controlled through the infotainment screen, but then that’s no different to recent Audis and we didn’t have many complaints there! All in all, it looks like the new A5 & S5 will be a great place to be for a long drive!

The A5 range kicks off from around £42,000, rising up to £68,000 for the S5. So is it worth it? Stick with Mat and see for yourself!
