Spoiler Alert Movie Endings: 3 Psycho

If you don't know what the twist in Psycho was then I don't have a clue why you're even reading this list. It's not that Psycho's twist was the best one of all time (though it's certainly up there), but it was that it was one of the first "real" twist endings, period. Remember, director Alfred Hitchcock went to great lengths to keep the film from being spoiled, even encouraging theaters to ban people from coming in late to the movie so as not to "ruin the experience."

As if the film's classic shower scene wasn't haunting enough, audiences were stunned to learn that Norman Bates' mother was not only dead the whole time, but that he was masquerading as her throughout the film. It was creepy and it was disturbing... and it worked!
