Here is my simple workflow on my doing live streaming, from in the camera to out-the-door flowing to Youtube.
You need:
CAMERA - you need a camera that CAN ACTUALLY live stream. In this case, Google is your friend, search for the terms "live streaming" and your camera model. Read more than one or two articles by scanning a few of them.
HDMI CABLE: You absolutely positively need an HDMI cable for EACH camera. There IS AN EXCEPTION available on 'some' newer Canon branded cameras. I have seen lists on Google of older Canon cameras that can live stream. But don't get caught up in that argument, for the most part you NEED AN HDMI cable. Check to see what kind of plug you need for your brand of camera. It should most likely be a MICRO/MACRO or MINI HDMI cable. Be careful to get a cable LONG ENOUGH to reach from the camera to computer without people tripping.
HDMI CAPTURE DEVICE: This is the hard one to understand and the hard one to find. You need an HDMI CAPTURE DEVICE for EACH camera you want to connect to your computer. Only way around this is to use a camera switcher (like the ATEM Mini pro or non pro). The ATEM Mini switcher STILL will need ONE HDMI CAPTURE DEVICE to connect up to 4 cameras to your computer. You can bypass that HDMI cable by using an optional USB-C to USB cable instead of the normal HDMI cable. In my opinion, the image quality is lower as the signal thru the USB cable is much more compressed.
A capture device I use is the Elgato CAM LINK 4K. They have a newer model that may still be for sale on the Elgato site - HD60S+ - the + is critical, don't get the one without the PLUS sign.
SOFTWARE: The big boy on the block is OBS. It is free and it is like operating a complicated piece of machinery. Powerful, but complicated. For my iMAC (does NOT work on Windows operating system) I use ECAMMLIVE: https://www.ecamm.com/mac/ecammlive/?fp_ref=peter11
YOUTUBE: You need a Youtube account. Also "verify" yourself for live streaming - DO NOT DO THIS on your cell phone!! Do it on you normal computer.
