The smartphone arena is getting really interesting recently, with a lot of new companies trying to get into the market and making some cool products along the way, but Robin, a new smartphone funding on Kickstarter right now, definitely stands out.

The team includes Scott Croyle, HTC’s ex head of design, responsible for the widely praised HTC One M7. Tom Moss, ex-head of business development and partnerships for Android over at Google. And Mike Chan, one of the original software engineers on the Android team.

the main selling point of the phone is that it offers 100 GB of cloud storage for free, in addition to the 32GB onboard storage. And the phone intelligently manages the cloud storage. When you’re on WiFi, the phone will securely upload apps, files, and pictures that you haven’t accessed in a long time, and then remove them from local storage - freeing you up to take pictures and download as many apps as you want while never having to worry about deleting anything to free up space. All of the cloud-syncd content is always available to you however, and all the icons are still visible on your phone. So when you want to dust off an app you haven’t used in forever, it will automatically sync it back to your local storage, and let you open it like nothing happened.
