Finally, summer is almost here. That means cookouts, road trips and of course visits to amusement parks. In preparation for your upcoming travels, check out 10 of the coolest new roller coasters.

Number 10 -- The Verruckt is located in Schlitterbahn Kansas City Waterpark. Scheduled to be unveiled on May 23rd, the 17 story high newbie is technically a waterslide that shoots passengers down a ridiculously steep slope at speeds up to 65 miles per hour.

Number 9 --Adventuredome at Circus Circus, Las Vegas recently opened the El Loco ride. The track spans a total of 13 hundred feet and reaches 90 feet in height. Although the top speed is only 45 miles per hour, the stomach churning drops and twists make up for that.

Number 8 - Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Illinois is home to the Goliath coaster. Slated to open on May 24th, it's an absolute monster that plummets riders down a 180-foot vertical drop. At 3,100 feet long, it ventures 72 miles per hour.

Number 7 - Zumanjaro Drop of Doom is premiering this year at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey. In 30 seconds, an eight-person gondola shoots to the top of a 415 foot tower. After a pause the gondola is dropped towards the ground at 90 miles an hour.

Number 6 -- The FireChaser Express, located in Dollywood, was introduced to the world on March 22nd. Considered to be a 'dual launch family coaster', it shoots riders both forward and backwards. Traveling just under 35 miles per hour, it brings riders up to 12 stories high.

Number 5 -- The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is a new interactive ride at Walt Disney World. With music playing, passengers are taken through a forest and into the dwarf's mine.

Number 4 -- The new Kentucky Kingdom and Hurricane Bay is home to a steel coaster called Lightning Run. Opening on May 24th, the steel coaster is 10 stories high. Once riders start moving, they are taken along a terrifying 100-foot, 80-degree drop towards the ground.

Number 3 -- Ohio's Kings Island unveiled the ride called Banshee on April 18th. Reaching speeds up to 68 miles per hour, it's thought to be the world's longest upside down coaster. The ride has exactly 4,124 feet of track and seven inversions.

Number 2 --For family fun, stop by Story Land in New Hampshire and get in line for the Roar-O-Saurus. Traveling down a track measured at 1,242 feet, it hits 35 miles per hour and ventures up to 40 feet in the air.

Number 1 - The revamped Thunderbolt ride is situated in Luna Park in Coney Island. According to CNN, it will be opened to the public this May, featuring a '100-foot vertical loop, an 80-foot, zero-G roll, a 112-degree over-banked turn and a custom heartline dive'.
