In a tough category, they all had to cede victory to the Kia Ceed, the 2019 What Car? Best Family Car.
Sporty and emotive in character with a lower and wider stance, a longer rear overhang, a strong shoulder line and an upright stance, the Kia Ceed has really matured, thanks to being constructed on Kia’s new ‘K2’ platform. There’s a wider ‘tiger-nose’ grille with ‘ice cube’ LED daytime running lights to either side and a lower air intake to make the front end stand out. The wide C-pillar underlines that the Ceed is a truly modern Kia, whilst straight lines have been replaced by rounded edges. At the back, there are new LED daytime running lights and an understated rear boot spoiler. Depending on your chosen Ceed, you’ll receive 15” or 16” steel wheels, 16” aluminium alloy wheels, or 17” two-tone diamond cut alloys. You can also choose between 12 exterior paint colours.
In profile, a more upright stance has been achieved by the use of sharp, straight lines to visually lengthen the bonnet. There’s also a greater sense of maturity and strength in the Ceed’s shoulder line, which now runs along a more horizontal plane, creating a sleek new ‘half-moon’ shape along the upper window-line. To enhance visibility and recognition from the rear, there are new LED daytime running lights.
Constructed on Kia’s new ‘K2’ platform, the Ceed five-door hatchback has wider dimensions and a longer rear overhang than the outgoing model, creating a more assertive and sporty stance, for a more confident presence on the road. From launch, the Ceed range will be available in a choice of 11 paint finishes. A selection of wheels and designs are available, with buyers able to choose from 15-inch steel wheels, 16-inch steel or aluminium wheels, and 17-inch two-tone diamond-cut alloy wheels
