2020 Mercedes V-Class V300d Facelift Experience https://youtu.be/6PLaEfAnqEc
When it introduced the model, Mercedes said it was targeting four different types of customers. First and foremost, the model was meant for families with two or more children, and also people with an inclination for active leisure activities. Then came VIP and hotel shuttle services, as well as business owners.
Betting on these segments paid off, at least partially, as Mercedes now reports the V-Class draws in one of the youngest buyer groups of the brand.
In January 2019, the facelift for the V-Class was presented as both a rejuvenation of the model and as a herald of the future electrified Mercedes MPVs.
The nearly five years that have passed since the introduction of the V-Class have meant a lot of visual changes in Mercedes’ entire lineup of cars; that’s why the design new V-Class tried to bring the model in line with the current look of other Mercedes models.
The size anof the V-Class have remained pretty much the same, and the biggest changes can be seen mostly at the front end.
There, a new bumper featuring pronounced cooling air inlets has been installed, as was a new radiator grille that uses the current diamond structure of other Mercedes cars.
To make the model more appealing to the current generation in the market for a new MPV, Mercedes has expanded the exterior color offering and the increased number of alloy wheel designs available by four.
The facelift will continue to benefit from the three exterior enhancement packages, Avantgarde, Exclusive and AMG.
2Interior design, features
and passenger space
The same need to make the V-Class fit in the refreshed Mercedes range expands to the interior.
For the facelift, the Germans went for a reduced design that makes all the controls easily accessible by the driver. The dashboard features new air vents, and the instrument cluster comes with a new dial design.
The materials used at the interior extend from Lugano and Nappa leather to Santos black fabric. They can be combined to result in a total of six different upholsteries in light and dark colors. Piano lacquer, ebony wood, carbon fiber, and brushed aluminum are also used extensively throughout the cabin.
The seats of the MPV have the same functions as the ones in the C-Class. The ones in the first row, for instance, can be ordered with reclining function, back massage and climatization.
Usually, the seats in the V-Class are configured as four individual positions in two rows, but optionally customers can go for a two-seater bench with two-piece folding backrest.
A number of engines will be fitted this year on the V-Class, but the most important addition is the four-cylinder OM 654 diesel that has made its way to the range.
For the V-Class, this unit will be offered on two variants, the V 250 d and V 300 d. The former develops 190 hp and 440 Nm of torque and the latter 239 hp and 500 Nm of torque.
According to Mercedes, the unit fitted in the V 250 d needs 13 percent less fuel to cover the same distance compared to its predecessor - 6.3-5.9 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions 165-154 g/km.
As a novelty, the V-Class will no longer be using the 7-speed transmission in the previous generation but will switch to a 9-speed one. Three drive modes will be available: Comfort, Sport and M.
As standard, the new V-Class will be offered as a rear-wheel drive, but upon request the model can be shipped with permanent all-wheel drive.
For the more powerful engine of the two, the V 300 d, performance figures stand at 7.9 seconds acceleration time and a top speed of 220 km/h.
