The Dover Quartet catapulted to international stardom
following a stunning sweep of the 2013 Banff Competition. The Cleveland Quartet Award winner, awarded the coveted Avery Fisher Career Grant, and recently, named Quartet in Residence at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., the Dover Quartet has become one of the most in-demand ensembles in the world. With its burnished warmth, incisive rhythms, and natural phrasing, the Quartet’s distinctive sound has helped confirm its status as “the young American string quartet of the moment” (The New Yorker). The Quartet also serves as the quartet-in-residence for the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University.
The Dover Quartet musicians share their story of meeting as teenagers at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, and perform the first movement of Schumann's Piano quintet in E-flat major, Op. 44 with Googler pianist June Wu, as well as the complete Mendelssohn Quartet in F minor, Op. 80.
