Here are the top ten new species for 2015.

Around 18,000 new species are discovered each year according to the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry. Since 2008, their International Institute for Species Exploration has published an annual top ten list based on the previous year’s findings.
Here are the top ten new species for 2015.
Number 10. Coral Plant.
This parasitic plant was found in the Philippines and is categorized as critically endangered. The Coral Plant doesn't have chlorophyll and is therefore unable to photosynthesize, so it must get nutrients from other nearby flora.
Number 9. Walking Stick
Although this insect is part of the giant stick family, it only measures in at 9 inches. Found in Vietnam, the discovery of this species gives scientists hope that more types of giants sticks exist, and just need to be found.
Number 8. Sea Slug.
Measuring approximately one inch, this Japanese sea slug appears electric blue, red or gold when photographed. This species is considered the missing link between sea slugs that eat coral and those that consume hydroids.
Number 7. Feathered Dinosaur.
Although this animal is no longer alive, fossils of the species were only recently discovered in North America. It lived alongside the T-Rex, but had many bird-like features and tendencies, including building nests and sitting on their eggs before they hatched.
Number 6. X-Phyla.
This multicellular animal discovered on the sea floor near Australia looks similar to a mushroom, but figuring out the species it’s most similar to requires DNA analysis. It's believed the X-Phyla could be related to the phylum containing jellyfish and coral, or be a living fossil of sorts to a Precambrian creature.
Number 5. Bromeliad.
Although people have been using a particular species for years in Christmas celebrations, it was only recently realized it was unknown to science. They flower from December to March in the northern region of Morelos, Mexico.
Number 4. Indonesian Frog.
One big difference between this frog species and others is that it gives birth to live tadpoles instead of laying eggs. Currently, they are the only frog species in the world known reproduce this way.
Number 3. Bone-house Wasp.
This type of wasp has a unique approach for protecting its young. In order to form a barricade to block the nest's entrance, the female will stack the bodies of up to 13 dead ants.
Number 2. Cartwheeling Spider.
Whenever the cartwheeling spider feels threatened, it lives up to its name. The acrobatic arachnid will propel itself towards its enemy in a series of spins. Whether the ground is flat or rocky, the spider is able to flip over and over again.
Number 1. Pufferfish.
For two decades scientists didn't know what was creating circular geometric patterns along the seafloor off the coast of Japan. It was discovered that the males amongst this new species of pufferfish create these as nests in order to attract a mate.
