One of the hands-down best movies ever made about war, let alone Vietnam, Apocalypse Now is equally legendary for what happened off-screen: like a runaway production that almost drove director Francis Ford Coppola insane and gave star Martin Sheen a heart attack. It was all worth it in the end though, as the movie went on to earn the Palme d'Or, along with two Oscars, six more nominations, and a place on every self-respecting movie lover's DVD shelf. They sure don't make 'em like this anymore, and that's a damn shame.
